HOLDEN, Mass. — A year after helping the Wachusett Mountaineers win their second straight Super Bowl Crown, lineman Tyler Catalina is continuing his success on and off the football field, recently signing with the University of Rhode Island and receiving a full four year Football Athletic Scholarship.

Catalina stands at 6'6", weighs 290 lbs, wears a size 17 shoe, "and is still growing," according to his mother, Kim Catalina, who of course was extremely proud of all of her son's big accomplishments.

"It's like a dream come true," she said. "It's more than I had ever hoped for."

At the end of his senior year in 2011, Catalina decided to seek a personal trainer, Frank Nash, and adopt a a very strict workout regime, as well as diet. 

Receiving a full scholarship to Kent School as a Post Graduate, where Tyler went on to play an undefeated year, playing both Offensive Lineman and Defensive Line, with much success and notoriety.

Tyler was the recipient of the All League All Star Team, as well as the MVP Lineman Award of the league. Additionally, he made the Worcester Telegram & Gazette All Star Team, was named All State All Star and played in the coveted Shriner's Chowder Bowl in June of 2011 at Springfield College.

According to Kim Catalina, Tyler was heavily recruited by some very prestigious Div 1 colleges, before opting for the University of Rhode Island.

"At Kent, he learned so much, including self-discipline, time management, and study skills, along with a very dedicated football program," she said.

His hard work on the field and in the classroom has paid off, and Catalina now looks forward to studying Criminal Justice and Law Enforcement.
