MILLBURY, Mass. - The Auburn-Millbury Boys Hockey team dropped a tough 3-2 game to the Wachusett Mountaineers Sunday afternoon at the DCU Center in Worcester.
The Mountaineers Mark Baker scored a power play goal early in the third period to break a 2-2 tie and it was enough for Wachusett to hold off the Rockets. Colin and Jeremy Bennie each had a goal and an assist for the Mountaineers.
Tyler Maher scored less than a minute into the second period to knot the score at 1-1 for the Rockets. Justin Huard scored the other Rockets goal late in the second period to tie the score at two.
Goaltenders Evan Lockwood for the Rockets and Ryan Fitzpatrick for Wachusett each had 20 saves in the game.
Auburn-Millbury plays again Monday at 10:30 a.m. against Minnechaug Regional High School. Wachusetts faces Medway at 7 p.m. Monday.
