WORCESTER, Mass. - Elizabeth May (Sweet) Danahy, 84, died Friday, Feb. 10, 2012.
Elizabeth's husband, William Danahy, died in 1986. Elizabeth leaves behind six daughters, Margaret K. "Meg" Boyce and her husband John of Holden, Maurya F. Hunt and her husband Kevin M. of Shrewsbury, Deborah D. Hicks and her husband Jim of Spencer, Phyllis M. Cunningham and her husband Thomas of Oxford, Maureen Danahy and her husband Richard Moore of Brookline and Elizabeth Koder and her husband Henry of Brandon, FL; 19 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Her son Joel Patrick Danahy and her brother, Albert Sweet predeceased her.
Elizabeth was born on October 15, 1927 the daughter of Alfred J. and May E. (Coutu) Sweet and graduated from St. Peter's High School. She worked as a healthcare provider for many years for the City of Worcester. She continued her care giving after retirement by volunteering for the VNA Care Hospice.
Elizabeth's funeral will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 14 from Callahan & Fay Brothers Funeral Home, 61 Myrtle St. with a Mass at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of the Angels Church, 1222 Main St. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held on Monday, Feb. 13 from 4 to 6 p.m. in the funeral home.
