HOLDEN, Mass. — State Sen. Harriette L. Chandler (D-Worcester) announced that she was honored with the National Association of Insurance and Financial Assistance’s (NAIFA) Legislator of the Year Award for her efforts on moving the long term care insurance bill through the legislature.
“I am humbled and pleased to receive this award from NAIFA,” Chandler said. “It is wonderful to have their support for my long-term care insurance bill, and I hope that we can continue to work on this key legislation together.”
Senate Bill No. 411 establishes legal standards and key financial incentives for long-term care insurance in the Commonwealth. Massachusetts is one of the few states that lacks a long-term care statute, making it a less attractive marketplace for long-term care products. Having long-term care standards in place will promote a market that offers better quality, availability and choice with respect to long-term care policies, and will protect consumer
