HOLDEN, Mass. — On March 3, the community is invited to Holden Boy Scout Troop 180’s spaghetti supper and silent auction, a fundraiser that will help support troop activities throughout the year.

Chartered in 1943, Troop 180 has been well established in Holden, and the annual spaghetti supper has become one of the local group's main fundraisers.

The proceeds help pay for trips, camp ground fees and outdoor equipment like tents and cooking utensils that the boys use.

"We don't charge fees for the boys who want to become scouts,  so we do some fundraising over the year, and the money is geared to support troop activities." said Michael Cohen, whose son has been involved in the scouts for three to four years.

"Boy Scouts provides a lot of opportunities for young boys to learn important skills, from camping, first aid to community activism, and he enjoys all of that, in particular the outdoor activities," said Cohen.

The menu for the supper will include spaghetti, meatballs, salad, garlic bread and desert.

Tickets are $8 per person, $5 for senior citizens and children 10 or under, with a family maximum of $32.

In addition to the supper, the event will also include a silent auction that will feature a variety of items donated by local businesses.

"We're very happy that a lot of local businesses have donated items for the silent auction," said Cohen. "We're continuing to receive donations, so we appreciate all the local business support."

So far, items in the silent auction include an iPod Shuffle, a Jack LaLane Juicer,  gift certificates to local restaurants  and stores including Baba Sushi, Bagel Inn, Friendly’s, Texas Road House, Panera Bread, Papa Gino’s, Subway, Ed Hyder’s Market and many others.

The event will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on March 3, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, 346 Shrewsbury St. in Holden.
